The Fireman's Ball

Ken Newham
I have bumped into Ken Newham many times over the years, as I host Open Mike nights and he frequents them. I've always been struck by his simple songs and their wonderful stories, so upon bumping into him at a solo gig in Burrinja Cafe one Sunday arvo, and at my wife's insistent urging, Ken decided it was time to record his 1st. CD.
Having never been involved in this type of project before, Ken rallied well and came up with a bunch of his songs and we set about putting them down, with a little help from some other musical compatriots, Stax, Tracey Roberts, Ken Minty and Henry Butcher. Ken and I hope you enjoy the results!
This Radio's Busted

Harry Harrison
I met Harry 'The Hat' Harrison at the Mt. Dandenong Hotel Jam, which I co-host every second Sunday night. With his swingin' combo, The Yo-Yo Men, Harry always brings the house down. I heard a demo of this song and instantly loved it, so I suggested to him that we should re-record it down at Studio 6. We both like the way it turned out, and there is another of Harry's tunes in the can for us to work on, so stay tuned for more news on that. For now though, enjoy Harry's Radio's Busted.
Instrumental

Jake Mazur
I also met Jake at the Mount Dandy Jam night, where his folks bring him to play. Young Jake is 17 and already an excellent musician. During the course of him taking a few guitar lessons from me, it came up that he also writes his own stuff, so over the school holidays I invited him to record some demos at Studio 6. This one is our first effort, a rough demo of Jake's 'Instrumental.'
